Francis Howell School District will hold an At-Large School Board election for three seats on April 4, 2023. Voters will choose between Jane Puszkar, Ron Harmon, Douglas Ziegemeier (Incumbent), Harry Harris, Mark Ponder, Andrew Flett, and Amy Easterling. Voters can choose three candidates on the ballot.
CANDIDATES
Puszkar supports parental rights and curriculum transparency.
Puszkar stands against radical political agendas in the classroom such as “CRT, gender indoctrination, and sexualization of children.”
Puszkar says she is focused on academic fundamentals.

Harmon supports parental rights including transparent curriculum access.
Harmon believes that CRT-laced curriculum has no place in schools and that politics need to be removed from classrooms.
Harmon supports “going back to the basics” by focusing on reading, math, writing and science.

Ziegemeier voted in favor of a resolution to integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion into curriculum.
Ziegemeier wants to facilitate an environment for students that is accepting of their sexual orientation and how they identify.
Ziegemeier supported virtual learning efforts during the pandemic.

Harris is an avid proponent of diversity, equity and inclusion in schools.
Harris has proposed creating a diversity, equity and inclusion coordinator position in the school district.
Harris believes the current system for what books children have access to in school libraries is sufficient.

Flett promotes “equality-based” curriculum initiatives.
Flett wants to prioritize school transparency towards curriculum and explicit library material.
Flett will advocate for a “parental opt-out accountability system” within the school library.
Andrew Flett is a father and teacher.
Easterling is a proponent of diversity, equity and inclusion for children.
Easterling advocated for banned books, claiming that sex scenes in LGBTQ+ books can be handled by high schoolers.
Easterling supports the district’s current system for parents to determine and put limits on what books their children have access to.
